Isn't there also some sort of "Spam-Bread"? I thought there was something like bread in Cans as well.

BTW I have a hard time to imagine sniggering pork, specially with caramel-top and choccolate coating...

Re: Did I miss something important?

And here to round it all up:

Would you like to make your own?

"Boston Brown Bread" - 1 loaf

1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 rye flour
1/2 cup yellow cornmeal
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup sour milk or buttermilk
1/2 cup molasses
1/2 cup raisins

1) Grease 1 lb. coffee can; line bottom with waxed paper. In large bowl, combine all ingredients; mix well.
2) Pour batter into prepared can; cover with foil and tie to can with string.
3) Place can on rack in deep saucepan; add boiling water to reach halfway up side of can. Cover pan.
4) Over low heat, simmer 1 1/2 to 2 hours until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Remove from can immediately; cool on wire rack.
TIP: Release bread from can by opening bottom end of can with can opener.
TIP: Cut bread while warm with thread.
TIP: Substitute greased 1-quart casserole for coffee can. Cover with tight lid or foil.

Re: Did I miss something important?

sounds, well, strange, but as a student who always has to eat the same stuff at least three days in a row to use it up before it goes to waste and cant actually shop more than 2 days in advance, i approve of canned stuff. though i havent actually bought any cans yet XD. at the moment i can buy deep frozen stuff and put it in the snow Very Happy

I was really surprised that it is mainly only knitting "straight lines".

I wonder if it is possible to knit a bag for a mobile phone the same way but with the knitiing technique you use for socks...

.... if you're interested, i know a much better technique for knitting bags for mobiles or i pods with only two needles but them being bags nonetheless......

and sorry for being an ingredientsist but raisins are just plain evil, they're always trying to gain world-domination Sad ..... and i won't have that in my bread, no sir!

nah,..... you just keep knitting back and forth but by knitting every other stitch and omitting the one between you'll end up having a tube already closed at the bottom.

i haven't located any canned bread yet, but at IKEA they have instant bread dough in tetra packs. just add warm water, let the dough rise and bake. tastes rather nice, actually.

wow, it does sound... well... I mean it is what you normally do. The only thing difference is, that you have to mix up the stuff beforehand... So where's the big "innovation"?

yep, you open the pack like any other, add the water, close it (and hold on to it), shake it and then pour the mixture into the baking pan. dont even have to wash a bowl afterwards Very Happy
