Thudgame banner competition

No objection to you taking part, and count me in.

you can enter i suppose. as long as you dont win! and i will want the html codes most definetly of the best onw. i will stick it everywhere!

maybe the winner should be the one who gets the most people to join from there banner. that may be a little to complicated. Oh, and update the rules.

The winner gets 2000 thudpoints from me.

it costs 500 points to enter, but you dont pay it. you pay it at the end, to the winner!

in theory, not complicated at all. but still impossible, because there probably will be banners which are on several sites and banners which are only on one, then there are high traffic and low traffic sites, sites where the average visitor probably is a discworld fan (like, say, the stampsforum) and sites where most people will never even have heard of discworld. so that'd make chances very uneven. and people who would join the site after seeing a banner probably only saw that one, so it doesn't make it the best/prettiest. so, no, a poll it is.

you are aware that thudpoints basically don't really exist any more? they're more undead. they don't do anything whatsoever and you only get them for new forum topics and images. a lot of people don't even have 500. it's pretty much only librarians, druids and some people who joined a while back when thudpoints still existed that do.
so paying 500 points is out of the question and 2000 points as prize pretty much equals just-for-fun.

okok. calm down:) just for fun it is. I just like thudpoints. they make me feel powerful.

Nooooo, the winner gets lotsa points from us! We have the magic stick with a knob on its end (no, not that one! ) and can give as many points as we like. This is good as you want to hold onto your points as as soon as Dewi gets some code ready you'll have something to spend them on. It's just taking us longer than we thought.

Since no one suggested how much time I should give you, I will make it 2 weeks, unless you tell me you need more SOON. 2 weeks would mean that you now have 1 week left. I'll give you a maximum of one week more if you tell me in the next couple of days. Otherwise next week Tuesday is the last day of the competition.

nope, you guys had the idea now, so we do it now. besides that might be after your exams. i, on the other hand, am right in the middle of them right now (and have been for weeks now) and will have my oral exams in june.

Right. If you need another week or at least some more days, please tell me so NOW (meaning asap). If no one speaks up within the next 24 hours, then the competition will end tomorrow night, so any entries that are not posted when I log on on wednesday will not be in the competition.

ok, you have another week. so get going and post your banners before i log on for the first time on wednesday next week. and trust me, you don't want to rely on me not logging on first thing in the morning (ie post your banners on tuesday at the latest. i just can't be bothered to stay on my computer till midnight).

Oh, I just thought I start a completely different trend on how to write as many words as possible intending to give them as few content as possible, whereas I do think I'm rather doing a fetchy job here, in this resepect, also the last few words were a bit "shooting over the target" for they did contain contend, but who cares, as long as I have been able to make my point there.

come on, guys, don't you think that another week is enough? i mean, it will be nearly 4 weeks by then and, honestly, if you couldn't find the time to create the banner by next week, what good would another one do?

Does it have to be animated? Only poor me no very skilled with making things move on screen, and im pretty sure ive got a fairly styilish idea forming in my head...

Go for it DBES, moving pictures are just easier to be catchy. But a cool banner not moving might be worth much much more ,-)

i agree with andy, go for it. there's no reason why it should be animated other than that you get more text on an animated banner without it looking crowded. but if you can make it good without animation, there's no reason why you shouldn't.

@hex: i really like the twister thingy in the beginning and if you'd skip the transition in the end you'd have more time for the other pictures with the long words without the whole banner thingy getting too long and people maybe losing interest, just my humble opinion...

Hmm. I am going to pull out. I have no time for this banner, but i want the code of the winner so i can put it on my site.

Re-done, but if I have time later I may add a few sparkles to it.
Now 100% easier to read, and got rid of the 'orrible ending transition.

a lot better than the first, hex but now with your signature the "anthropomorphic personifications" change too quick! might want to check that once again...
